ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how age and the severity of rib injuries affect short-term recovery outcomes for patients who have undergone a surgery called Surgical Stabilization of Rib Fractures (SSRF). The researchers want to see how well patients do after this surgery by looking at factors like survival rates, the number of days they need to use a breathing machine, and how long they stay in the hospital or intensive care unit. They believe that older patients or those with more serious injuries may have a harder time recovering after this type of surgery.
To participate in this trial, patients must be treated at the University Hospital Muenster for rib fractures that occurred between 2019 and 2023. They should have specific types of rib fractures, known as coded serial rib fractures, but not fractures caused by cancer. The study is open to people of all ages and genders. Participants will be monitored during their hospital stay to gather information that could help improve treatment for rib fractures in the future.
