ClinConnect Summary
The CHAMP Implementation Study is looking at a new way to help older adults who are preparing for surgery, especially those who do not have cancer. Currently, the usual check-ups before surgery do not always take into account the unique needs of older patients. This study aims to use a tool called the Comprehensive Health Assessment for My Cancer treatment Plan (CHAMP), which allows patients to fill out a health questionnaire online before their doctor visits. This tool helps identify any health issues that could affect their surgery and recovery, making it easier for doctors to provide the right support.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 70 years old and scheduled for a non-cancer surgery. You should also be able to speak English and provide consent to take part in the study. If you join, you can expect to complete the online assessment before your appointment, which will help your healthcare team better understand your health needs. This study is currently recruiting participants and aims to improve the way older adults receive care before surgery.
