ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the safety and effectiveness of placing two central venous catheters (thin tubes used to deliver medication or fluids) either in the same vein or in two different veins for patients undergoing major surgeries, like heart or liver transplants. The goal is to see if inserting both catheters in the same vein leads to more complications, such as bleeding or incorrect placement, compared to using two separate veins.

To participate, patients must be adults over 18 years old who are scheduled for significant surgeries and have been planned to receive at least two catheters. However, those with a history of certain vein problems will not be included. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one group will have both catheters placed in a single vein, while the other group will have them placed in two different veins. This study is important because it aims to fill a gap in current medical knowledge about the safest way to manage multiple catheters during surgery.
