ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how older adults recover their thinking and memory skills after having heart surgery. Researchers want to understand if surgery affects cognitive abilities, like memory and attention, and how this can impact daily life and independence. They will include 220 participants aged 65 and older who are scheduled for heart surgery, either planned or urgent. The study will look at cognitive function and any changes over six months after the surgery, along with factors that may influence recovery, such as mental health and the experiences of family members who support them.
To be eligible for the trial, participants should be scheduled for heart surgery, live in the area, and be able to read and understand Swedish. However, people who have had surgery in the last six months or have serious physical or mental difficulties that would prevent them from completing the tests will not be included. By joining this study, participants can help researchers learn more about cognitive decline after surgery, which could lead to better support for older adults and their families in the future.
