ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a common problem called postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF), which is an irregular and fast heartbeat that can happen after heart surgery. Researchers want to understand how inflammation, which is the body’s response to injury, contributes to this condition. They will look at fat tissue around the heart to see how certain genes are expressed differently in patients who develop POAF compared to those who don’t. This information could help find new ways to prevent or treat this complication after surgery.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and able to give your consent to join. However, if you have a serious health condition or are having a repeat surgery, you won’t be eligible. If you do join, you can expect to provide some samples for testing and be part of a team that is working to improve outcomes for future heart surgery patients. This research could lead to better understanding and treatment options for those at risk of developing atrial fibrillation after surgery.
