ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating two different surgical techniques for repairing a cleft palate, specifically looking at their effectiveness in helping children speak normally. The trial is focused on children over 3 years old who have an isolated cleft palate, meaning they have a gap in the roof of their mouth without other related issues. The researchers want to find out which surgery leads to better speech outcomes and fewer complications like velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI), a condition where the soft palate doesn’t close completely, affecting speech.
If your child is eligible and participates in this trial, they will undergo one of the two surgical techniques being studied. The goal is to help them achieve normal speech and improve their quality of life. It's important to note that children with more complex cases or those who have not had regular follow-ups will not be included in the study. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, so there will be more information available as it gets started.
