Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Quantitative Sensory Testing Falls Elderly

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how certain tests can help understand the risk of falls in older adults. As we age, our bodies can change in ways that make it harder to maintain balance, which increases the chances of falling. The study focuses on people aged 65 to 80 years old and aims to find out how using techniques like transcranial magnetic stimulation (a non-invasive method that stimulates nerve cells) and quantitative sensory testing (which measures how well you can feel different sensations) can help assess fall risk.

To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be between 65 and 80 years old and in good health, meaning they shouldn't have had certain surgeries on their legs, or conditions like strokes or Parkinson's disease. Participants can expect to undergo a series of tests that will help researchers learn more about how their sensory and motor skills affect their balance. Overall, this study is important because it aims to find better ways to keep older adults safe from falls, which can lead to serious health issues and loss of independence.
