ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how a treatment called Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) affects bowel functions, pain levels, and the amount of pain medication needed after open colorectal surgery. TENS is a therapy that uses electrical pulses to help relieve pain. The study aims to see if using TENS can improve recovery for patients after their surgery.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be over 18 years old and have undergone open colorectal surgery. They should be able to communicate verbally and be assessed by a doctor to ensure it is safe for them to receive TENS treatment. However, people who have had certain complications, such as needing mechanical ventilation or having specific medical conditions, will not be eligible. Those who join the study can expect to receive TENS therapy and will be monitored for its effects on their pain and recovery. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, so there will be more information available once it begins.
