ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how the level of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) DNA in the blood changes during radiation therapy for a type of cancer called nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which primarily affects the throat area. The study will focus on teenagers and young adults aged 8 to 30 who have been diagnosed with EBV-positive nasopharyngeal carcinoma and are about to start treatment aimed at curing their cancer. Researchers want to see if the changes in EBV DNA levels can help predict how well the treatment is working.

To participate in this study, individuals must be within the specified age range, have a confirmed diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma that is at an early to moderate stage (Stage I-IVA), and be ready to begin radiation therapy. However, those who have had a recurrence of the cancer, other EBV-related cancers, or prior radiation treatment cannot join. Participants will undergo regular tests during their treatment to monitor their EBV DNA levels, helping researchers understand the relationship between these levels and treatment outcomes. This study is not yet open for recruitment, but it aims to provide valuable insights into the treatment of this cancer in young people.
