ClinConnect Summary
The ALgerian Cholecystectomy Outcomes and Determinants Study (AL-CODS) is a clinical trial aimed at understanding the results and factors related to gallbladder surgery, known as cholecystectomy. This surgery is commonly performed to treat conditions like gallstones and inflammation of the gallbladder. While it is generally safe, there can be risks involved, especially in certain groups of patients. The study will collect information on how patients fare in the 30 days following their surgery, which is crucial for improving medical care and ensuring better outcomes for future patients.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled to undergo cholecystectomy at a hospital in Algeria between January 1, 2025, and June 30, 2025. Unfortunately, those under 18, those who refuse to participate, or those having the surgery for gallbladder cancer or alongside other major surgeries will not be included. By participating, individuals will contribute to important research that aims to enhance patient safety and surgical practices in Algeria.
