ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring new ways to help stroke patients recover use of their arms. Many stroke survivors struggle with moving their upper limbs even after rehabilitation. One treatment being studied is called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), which uses magnetic pulses to activate areas of the brain involved in movement. Another method included in this study is mirror therapy, where patients use a mirror to create the illusion that their affected arm is moving like their healthy arm. The trial will investigate how effective TMS and the combination of TMS with mirror therapy are in improving recovery for stroke patients.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least one month post-stroke and have some weakness in their arm (specifically, a muscle strength score of less than 5). However, individuals with a history of epilepsy or other serious brain conditions will not be able to participate. If selected, participants can expect to undergo these innovative therapies in a safe and supportive environment, helping researchers understand if combining these two methods can lead to better outcomes for stroke recovery.
