ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the muscles used for chewing (like the masseter and temporalis) relate to the shape of the face in patients who need orthodontic treatment. Researchers want to understand whether the way these muscles work is influenced by the structure of the face or if strong muscles can actually affect how the face grows. The evaluation will take place before any orthodontic treatment starts.
To be eligible for this study, participants should be patients who need orthodontic or orthopaedic treatment and have either baby teeth, a mix of baby and adult teeth, or all adult teeth. However, those with certain health issues, signs of jaw disorders, dental pain, or a history of jaw surgery cannot participate. If you join this study, you can expect to undergo a test that measures how your jaw muscles are working before starting any orthodontic procedures. This research could help improve our understanding of how facial structure and muscle function interact, which may benefit future orthodontic treatments.
