ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how to better detect and treat muscle loss (sarcopenia) and bone loss (osteoporosis) in older adults. These conditions can lead to falls and fractures, making it harder for individuals to live independently. The researchers are using advanced imaging techniques powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze existing CT scans of older patients. By examining these scans, the study aims to assess muscle quality more accurately without needing extra tests. Participants will also take part in simple physical tests, like measuring hand strength and walking speed, to get a fuller picture of their muscle health.
To be eligible for the trial, participants should have had a CT scan related to the chest, abdomen, or spine within a month of their hospital stay, and they should also have certain functional measurements taken. The study is currently recruiting participants of all genders and aims to improve how we diagnose and treat these common age-related issues, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for older individuals.
