ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different factors affect the ability to chew and swallow in older adults. As people age, they may experience difficulties with chewing and swallowing, which can lead to serious health issues if not detected early. The researchers aim to understand these challenges better and create a prediction model to identify older adults at risk of swallowing problems. They will assess participants’ chewing and swallowing skills using specific tests and consider various health factors that could impact these abilities.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be over 65 years old, able to follow simple instructions, and walk independently for a short distance. The study is currently recruiting participants, and those who join can expect a thorough evaluation that will take about 35-45 minutes, combining regular health assessments with specific tests related to chewing and swallowing. This research aims to provide a better understanding of swallowing disorders in older adults and improve their quality of life.
