ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new treatment approach for melasma, a skin condition that causes dark patches on the face. The researchers want to compare the effects of a special cooling treatment called cryotherapy combined with a medication called tranexamic acid against a regular saline solution (saltwater) to see which is more effective in reducing melasma. The trial will involve 18 participants aged between 25 and 60 years who have been diagnosed with a specific type of melasma on both cheeks that is 2 cm or larger.

To be eligible for the trial, participants must have the right type of melasma and fit within certain skin types. However, those who are pregnant, have certain skin conditions, or have been treated for melasma recently won’t be able to join. Participants can expect to receive treatments on both sides of their face over four weeks and will be followed up one and three months after their last treatment to assess how well the treatments worked. This study is currently not recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable insights into new ways to treat melasma effectively.
