ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different ways of providing breathing support during surgery for patients with vocal cord issues, such as vocal cord disease or cysts. The trial is comparing Flow-Controlled Ventilation, which uses a steady flow of air to help fill the lungs at lower pressures, to Volume-Controlled Ventilation, which can sometimes require higher pressures that may harm the lungs. The hope is that Flow-Controlled Ventilation will lead to better breathing support during surgery with less risk of injury to the lungs.
To participate in this trial, you need to be undergoing elective microscopic laser surgery and have a general health status classified as ASA I or II, which means you are generally healthy or have mild health issues. However, if your surgery is expected to take longer than two hours, if you have chronic lung diseases, or if you have a higher body weight (BMI over 25), you may not be eligible. Participants can expect to receive careful monitoring and support during their surgery to assess how well the different ventilation methods work.
