ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how people pay attention to faces before and after a type of surgery called orthognathic surgery, which is done to correct jaw deformities. The researchers want to understand if this surgery improves how others perceive patients’ faces and how those patients feel about themselves. They will show video clips of different people’s faces (some with jaw issues and some without) to participants while tracking where they look on the screen. This will help the researchers see if people focus more on certain parts of the face after surgery.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have no prior knowledge of dentofacial deformities or their treatments. They should not have any facial conditions or be involved in healthcare professions related to this field. Participants will watch a short video and their eye movements will be recorded, which will help the researchers gather important information about social perception and self-esteem related to facial appearance. Overall, the trial aims to show how successful jaw surgery can be, not just for physical health but also for emotional well-being.
