ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Effectiveness Trial of Temperament Based Therapy With Support (TBT-S)" is studying a new outpatient treatment for individuals with anorexia nervosa. The goal is to see if adding TBT-S to the usual treatment helps reduce symptoms of the eating disorder more effectively than the usual treatment alone. Researchers will assess participants' progress at four different times: before starting TBT-S, right after the therapy, and again at 3 and 12 months later. They believe that those receiving the new therapy will show a greater improvement in their eating disorder symptoms compared to those who only receive standard treatment.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 18 years old, have a diagnosis of anorexia nervosa, and be medically stable. It's important that they are willing to involve a support person in their treatment. However, individuals with certain conditions, like developmental or psychotic disorders, substance abuse issues in the past three months, or those currently receiving inpatient treatment, will not be eligible. Participants can expect to receive both the usual care for anorexia and the additional TBT-S therapy, and they will be closely monitored throughout the study to track their progress.
