ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different levels of a medication called Propofol, used during total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA), might affect memory formation while patients are under general anesthesia. Specifically, the researchers want to see if the concentration of Propofol at key moments—when a patient loses responsiveness, during surgery, and when they wake up—can influence whether any implicit memories are formed. Implicit memory refers to memories that we are not consciously aware of, which can sometimes happen even when patients are under anesthesia.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be women aged between 65 and 74 who are undergoing general anesthesia with TIVA. Some people won't be able to join if they have certain health conditions, like serious heart or lung problems, or if they've taken specific medications before the procedure. Since this trial is not yet recruiting, there will be opportunities for interested participants to learn more about what to expect during the study, including how they will be monitored and the overall process.
