ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether acupuncture can help patients with sarcoma who are undergoing chemotherapy with doxorubicin, particularly to prevent a serious side effect called febrile neutropenia (CIFN). CIFN is a condition where a patient has a fever and low white blood cell count, which can lead to hospitalization. The trial will involve patients aged 18 to 65 who are diagnosed with any stage of sarcoma and are scheduled to receive doxorubicin. Participants will be randomly assigned to two groups: one will receive acupuncture during specific chemotherapy cycles, while the other will receive it during different cycles.
Throughout the trial, participants can expect to receive acupuncture on certain days of their treatment, along with training on how to perform acupressure on themselves. The study aims to see if acupuncture can reduce the need for hospital visits due to CIFN and improve overall well-being during chemotherapy. This research could provide valuable insights into how acupuncture might support patients undergoing treatments that carry a high risk of complications.
