ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how preoperative counseling affects the emotional well-being of women who receive an altered Pap smear result or a positive HPV test. Researchers want to understand the psychological impact of this news, as women with these results often experience increased stress, anxiety, and feelings of depression. To gather this information, participants will complete several surveys at different points in their treatment journey, allowing the team to track changes in their mental health from the moment they receive their diagnosis through to their treatment.
Women aged 65 to 74 who are part of the Prevenzione Serena program and have an altered Pap smear or two positive HPV tests may be eligible to join the trial. Participants will need to fill out surveys via email and will be monitored for their emotional responses throughout the study. It's important to note that women who are pregnant, have previously accessed colposcopy services, or face language barriers will not be able to participate. This study aims to ultimately improve support for women facing these challenging diagnoses.
