ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two medications, mifepristone and misoprostol, to see which one works better for preparing the cervix (the lower part of the uterus) before an abortion procedure at 12 to 16 weeks of pregnancy. The researchers want to find out if one medication helps women achieve the necessary opening of the cervix more effectively than the other. The trial is currently looking for participants who speak either English or Spanish and are seeking an abortion for a single pregnancy within the specified timeframe.

To be eligible for this study, participants should be women aged between 18 and 45, must be able to understand and give consent to join the trial, and should not have certain medical conditions, such as a history of multiple C-sections or specific issues with the placenta. If they choose to participate, women can expect to receive either mifepristone or misoprostol and will be monitored to see how well their cervix dilates in preparation for the procedure. This study is important as it may help determine the best medication for cervical preparation, potentially improving care for women undergoing this procedure in the future.
