ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how to best treat tibial fractures (breaks in the bone of the lower leg) in children and teenagers. Traditionally, doctors have treated these fractures by putting the leg in a cast after realigning the bone, and this method has worked well over time. However, some doctors are now considering surgery to fix these fractures right away. This study will compare the outcomes of both methods—traditional casting and immediate surgical treatment—to see which is more effective.
To participate in this trial, children under 18 years old who have been treated for a specific type of tibial fracture at the HUS hospital between June 2004 and April 2024 may be eligible. Participants will be asked to share their medical information for research, but they must not have opposed this use of their data. If eligible, participants can expect to contribute to important research that helps doctors improve the care of young patients with leg fractures. It's important to note that those with certain types of fractures or who have not given permission for their data to be used will not be able to join the study.
