ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is investigating how certain features of heart plaque, identified through a special imaging technique called coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA), might predict future heart-related problems in patients who have chronic coronary syndromes (CCS) but are not currently receiving treatment. The researchers want to see if these imaging results can help identify patients at higher risk for future cardiac events, even if they have been deferred from immediate treatment based on another test called fractional flow reserve (FFR).

To participate in this study, you need to be at least 20 years old and have a diagnosis of chronic coronary syndromes. You should also have undergone a CTA within the last three months before another heart test called invasive coronary angiography (ICA) with FFR measurement. However, if you have had previous heart surgery, such as coronary bypass grafting, or specific types of heart disease, you may not be eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to undergo additional evaluations to help researchers learn more about the connection between plaque characteristics and heart health. This might provide valuable information for better managing heart conditions in the future.

Eligibility criteria

  • Inclusion Criteria:
  • men and women aged ≥20 years,
  • patients having chronic coronary syndromes (CCS,
  • Coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) was performed within 90 days before invasive coronary angiography (ICA) with fractional flow reserve (FFR) pressure measurement.
  • Exclusion Criteria:
  • patients with a history of coronary bypass grafting (CABG) because CABG changed local coronary flow dynamics,
  • patients with left-main disease,
  • patients with fractional flow reserve (FFR) in stented vessels due to inability to estimate plaque morphology in the stented lesion by coronary computed tomography angiography.
