ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding the experiences of support workers and managers who help people with learning disabilities transition from hospital care to living in the community. Since a serious abuse case at Winterbourne View in 2011 highlighted the need for better care, the UK government has been working to move individuals with learning disabilities into more appropriate living situations. This study aims to gather insights from support staff and managers about their roles in this important transition, as their experiences can help improve care and quality of life for these individuals.
To participate in the study, support workers and managers must have worked with individuals with learning disabilities who have moved from a hospital setting to a community setting within the last three years. Participants will be invited to have a one-hour interview, either online or in person, where they will share their experiences supporting these individuals. The study will take about 1.5 years to complete, and it will take place in specific areas of London and surrounding trusts. This research is crucial as it will help shape future care practices and ensure that individuals with learning disabilities receive the support they need in their new homes.
