ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different methods of repairing nasal and alveolar deformities in patients with a condition called cleft lip and palate. It aims to compare a single-stage repair, where everything is fixed in one surgery, with a multiple-stage repair, where surgeries are done in separate steps. The goal is to see if the single-stage approach can reduce the number of surgeries a patient needs, improve facial appearance more quickly, and provide better overall results for the patients.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between 5 and 18 years old and have a unilateral cleft lip and palate, which means they have a cleft on one side of their lip and mouth. However, those with a complete cleft on both sides or only a cleft lip, among other exclusions, will not be included. Participants can expect to receive care from experienced professionals and will be monitored closely throughout the process to ensure their safety and progress. This research is important because it could lead to better treatment options for young patients with these conditions.
