ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well a special assessment for older patients can be done right after they leave the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Many patients over 75 years old are admitted to the ICU, and while they may survive, they often face challenges that affect their recovery and quality of life. The study aims to see if a geriatric assessment—essentially a check-up focusing on the unique needs of older adults—can be carried out safely and effectively within a week after leaving the ICU and then again six months later. This could help doctors understand the best ways to support elderly patients during their recovery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 75 years old, have been admitted to the ICU, and have survived their stay. They also need to be able to understand the study and give their consent, or have a close relative help with that if they are confused. The study is still in the planning stages and hasn't started recruiting participants yet. If you or someone you know fits these criteria, this trial could provide valuable insights into improving care for older patients after a critical illness.
