ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Gastrointestinal Dysfunction in Aortic Surgery Patients," is looking into how problems with the digestive system might affect recovery in patients who have undergone surgery on the aorta, a major blood vessel in the body. Researchers want to find out if certain measurements related to the intestines, like levels of specific proteins in the blood, can help predict important outcomes after surgery. These outcomes include how much nutrition patients receive, the need for additional feeding methods, and risks of complications like pneumonia or extended stays in the hospital or intensive care unit (ICU).
To participate in this study, you must be 18 years or older and have recently had surgery on your aorta that required a breathing machine for more than 48 hours. The study is currently recruiting patients of all genders who meet these criteria. If you join, you will help researchers gather important information that could improve care for future patients undergoing similar surgeries, and you will be monitored closely for various health outcomes during your recovery.
