ClinConnect Summary

The "Nutrition Goes to School" trial is studying a program designed to help teenagers in Jakarta, Indonesia, eat healthier and be more active. This program aims to tackle obesity by teaching students and their families about good nutrition, promoting healthy foods in school canteens, encouraging physical activities, and creating a better school environment. The trial will involve ten secondary schools, with half of them receiving the nutrition intervention for six months, while the other half will not receive any special program during this time. Researchers want to see if this program helps improve students' knowledge about healthy eating, increases their fruit and vegetable consumption, and reduces their intake of sugary drinks.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be high school students in grades 10 or 11, aged 15 to 17 years, and attending school in Jakarta. If they join, students can expect to engage in fun and informative sessions about nutrition and health, and they will also be asked to fill out some questionnaires about their eating habits and physical activities. It’s important to note that students who are not willing or able to complete the questionnaires thoroughly will not be able to participate. This study is currently recruiting participants, and your involvement could help shape healthier futures for students in your community!
