Transient Ischemic Attack Ischemic Stroke Tia Scores

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking into how well certain scoring systems can predict the risk of having a stroke or experiencing another transient ischemic attack (TIA) within 30 days for patients who come to the emergency department with TIA symptoms. The scoring systems being studied include the ABCD2 score, ABCD3-I score, Canadian TIA Score, and the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). By understanding these scores better, researchers hope to improve patient care and outcomes for those at risk of stroke.

To participate in this trial, individuals must be 18 years or older and have been diagnosed with a TIA or an ischemic stroke that did not require immediate treatment. However, those with certain conditions, such as hemorrhagic stroke, recent trauma, or who are under 18, cannot take part. Participants will be asked to provide informed consent, meaning they agree to join the study after being fully informed about what it involves. Throughout the trial, they can expect to undergo assessments using the scoring systems to help track their risk and improve future care for patients with similar conditions.
