ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is designed to find out if a special type of care, called developmental care, can help very low birth weight infants—those who weigh less than 3.3 pounds—during their time in the hospital. The study aims to see if this care can help these babies leave the hospital sooner and if it allows families to be more involved in their care. The trial will take place over 36 months in 40 neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), where a customized care plan will be developed based on the specific needs of each unit.
To be eligible for this trial, infants must weigh less than 1500 grams (about 3.3 pounds) and be admitted to a level III NICU within 24 hours of birth. However, babies with severe birth defects, certain genetic disorders, or serious brain problems will not be included. If your baby qualifies and you choose to participate, you can expect to see how this developmental care approach might improve their hospital experience and overall care. This trial is currently recruiting participants and is open to infants of all genders.
