ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is focused on understanding the risk of infection in pregnant women who experience fever during labor. Fever can happen to more than 8% of women in labor and can be caused by different factors, including infections, medication side effects, or just the body’s natural response to labor. The researchers want to gather more information about how often infections occur in these cases and what might predict them. They aim to study this from various medical perspectives, including obstetrics, infectious diseases, and microbiology, to get a clearer picture.

To participate in this study, women must be at least 37 weeks pregnant and have a fever during labor, which is defined as a temperature above 38°C (100.4°F) measured at least twice in a short period. They should be giving birth at one of the participating hospitals between July 1, 2023, and June 1, 2024, and must agree to allow their health data to be collected for research purposes. Women who are less than 37 weeks pregnant, minors, or those who oppose the collection of their data will not be eligible. Participants can expect to be part of a comprehensive study that may help improve understanding and treatment of fever during labor in the future.
