ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at different surgical methods to treat pilonidal sinus disease in women. Pilonidal sinus is a condition that can cause painful lumps, often near the tailbone. The study will compare three treatment options: the Karydakis procedure, which involves creating a flap of skin to cover the area, and the pit-pick method, which is a less invasive approach. Researchers want to see which method works best by checking how often the problem comes back, any complications that might arise, and how the results look after healing, especially for women who have three or fewer pits.

To participate in this study, women aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with pilonidal sinus disease and have three or fewer pits may be eligible. It's important to note that those who have had previous surgery for this condition, are pregnant, or have other specific health issues may not qualify. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive one of the surgical treatments and will be monitored for your recovery and any side effects. This study aims to provide more information specifically about how these treatments work in women, as most existing research focuses on men.
