ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether using cold therapy, like ice packs, can help reduce pain for patients undergoing hemodialysis when they need to have needles inserted into their arteriovenous fistula (AVF). Many patients experience significant pain and anxiety during these needle insertions, which can affect their overall quality of life. The trial aims to see if applying cold therapy before the needle insertion can make this process more comfortable for patients.
To participate in the study, individuals should be between the ages of 30 and 50 and have been receiving hemodialysis treatment for at least three months, with their AVF in use for more than one month. Participants must be able to communicate their pain levels effectively. However, some patients may not be eligible, including those with certain health conditions like advanced diabetes or heart failure, or those who have difficulty understanding the study. If eligible, participants can expect to receive treatment that could potentially help lessen their pain during a common and necessary procedure.
