ClinConnect Summary

The Cardio-Renal Registry is a clinical trial that aims to better understand how heart disease affects patients with severe kidney disease. This study is important because heart problems are the leading cause of illness and death in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Even if patients have other health issues like diabetes or high blood pressure, their risk for heart disease increases as their kidney function worsens. Unfortunately, patients with both heart and kidney issues often receive less treatment than those without kidney disease, which could be due to concerns about potential side effects. This trial will gather information on these patients to help predict outcomes and improve their care.

To be eligible for this study, participants need to be at least 16 years old and have kidney disease that is being managed by the Nephrology team. The trial will automatically include patients in a research database, so they don’t need to give consent individually. This study will not include children and will also involve vulnerable adults who are unable to give consent but are under the care of the Nephrology team. Participants can expect their health data to be used to help improve how doctors understand and treat heart disease in those with kidney problems.
