ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) can help understand changes in pressure inside the skull of pregnant women with preeclampsia during cesarean sections. Preeclampsia is a condition that can cause serious complications during pregnancy, including increased pressure in the brain, which can lead to various neurological issues. By using ultrasound to measure the ONSD, researchers hope to find a reliable and non-invasive way to assess intracranial pressure. This information could improve the planning of anesthesia during delivery for women with preeclampsia.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be women aged 18 and older, with a pregnancy of 37 weeks or more, and have either healthy pregnancies or mild to severe preeclampsia. Those with certain conditions, such as multiple pregnancies, recent brain injuries, or specific eye issues, will not be able to participate. Participants in this trial can expect to undergo simple and safe ultrasound measurements of their optic nerve during the cesarean section process, which will help researchers learn more about how to best manage anesthesia in these situations.
