ClinConnect Summary
The PILI 'Āina Household trial is designed to help improve the health of Native Hawaiians facing challenges like Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity. This study will test a program that focuses on promoting traditional Hawaiian diets and cooking practices, with the goal of helping participants manage their health better and reduce the risk of diet-related diseases. The program will include community cooking demonstrations and activities that bring people together to support one another in making healthier lifestyle choices.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old, a Native Hawaiian living in a participating community, and either overweight or have been diagnosed with conditions like Type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure. Participants should be able to engage in moderate physical activity, like brisk walking, for about 150 minutes each week. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and everyone is welcome to join, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria. If you join, you can expect to learn more about healthy eating, engage in community activities, and work towards improving your overall health in a supportive environment.
