ClinConnect Summary

The "Skin Wetting in Burn Survivors" clinical trial is studying how wetting the skin can help burn survivors manage their body temperature during exercise, especially in hot conditions. Researchers want to find out if this method can reduce overheating in people who have had burns covering different areas of their bodies. The study involves comparing those with burn injuries to healthy individuals who have not experienced burns.

To participate, you need to be between 18 and 65 years old and in good health. Burn survivors must have had burns covering 20-40% or more than 40% of their body, with at least some of those burns requiring skin grafts and a hospital stay of at least 15 days. If you join the study, you will exercise in a warm environment while either receiving no cooling or having your skin wetted, allowing researchers to see which method works better to keep your body temperature in check. This study is important because it could lead to better ways for burn survivors to stay safe and comfortable during physical activities.
