ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how certain training and education can improve oral health and eating abilities in older adults, particularly those who have difficulty chewing and eating after getting removable dentures. The researchers want to find out if a special program that includes practice with chewing (called oral mastication training) and guidance on food textures and diets can help improve not just oral health, but also nutrition and physical functioning in elderly people living in Chiayi County, who are 65 years or older and can take care of themselves.

To participate, individuals must be able to communicate in Mandarin or Taiwanese and be residents of Chiayi County. Those who are unable to care for themselves or have cognitive challenges are not eligible. Participants will be divided into two groups: one group will receive both the chewing training and diet education, while the other group will only receive diet education. Researchers will check in with participants after one month and again after six months to see how they are doing. This study aims to help improve the quality of life for older adults by enhancing their eating abilities and overall health.
