ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called XERODIAG, is studying a new way to diagnose xerostomia, or dry mouth, which is a common and frustrating symptom for people with Sjögren's syndrome. Normally, doctors measure how much saliva you produce, but this can be uncomfortable and not always accurate. The trial is looking at a different test called the buccal Schirmer test to see if it can provide reliable results without the discomfort of the traditional method. The researchers will compare two groups of patients: one with normal saliva production and another with reduced saliva production.
To participate in this study, you need to be over 18 years old and have a diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome based on specific medical criteria. However, if you have cognitive issues or are pregnant, you won't be eligible. If you join the trial, you'll help researchers understand if this new test is just as effective as the standard saliva flow measurement. The study is not yet recruiting, but it aims to improve the way doctors diagnose dry mouth for patients with Sjögren's syndrome.
