ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking to understand how different settings on a special laser affect a procedure called Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), which is used to treat men with bothersome urinary symptoms caused by enlarged prostates. The researchers want to find out if using higher laser power can make the procedure quicker without causing any problems afterward, while lower settings might help reduce irritating symptoms after the procedure. Currently, there isn’t a standard way to set the laser, so this study aims to find the best settings to improve patient outcomes.

To participate in the trial, men aged 18 to 89 who are having HoLEP for troublesome urinary issues may be eligible. However, men with very large prostates, those who cannot make their own medical decisions, or those who do not speak English will not be able to join. Participants can expect to receive the HoLEP procedure using different laser settings, and the researchers will carefully monitor the results to see which settings work best. This study is currently recruiting participants, so if you or someone you know fits the criteria, it could be a great opportunity to contribute to important research in prostate health.
