ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether a combination of medical hypnosis and ear acupuncture can help improve sleep quality for patients with advanced cancer who are staying in a palliative care unit. Patients will receive this treatment on the second day of their hospital stay, and their sleep quality will be assessed before the treatment starts and again after a week. The study will compare the effects of the real treatment to a placebo (a sham treatment) to see if the actual therapy provides unique benefits.
To participate in this trial, patients must have a confirmed diagnosis of cancer, experience significant sleep difficulties, and be able to read and understand the study materials. They also need to be capable of giving informed consent for their participation. Some individuals may not be eligible, such as those who are pregnant, do not speak German, or have certain medical conditions like diagnosed psychosis or brain metastases. Overall, this trial aims to explore new ways to help improve sleep for patients who may be facing challenging symptoms during their cancer treatment.
