ClinConnect Summary
The AspergillusOne-Health trial is studying infections caused by a type of fungus called Aspergillus fumigatus, particularly focusing on understanding why some strains of this fungus resist common antifungal medications known as azoles. Over two years, researchers will collect and analyze respiratory samples from patients in the Loire Atlantique and Vendée regions to identify and isolate these fungi. They will look closely at how well different strains respond to treatment and gather information about patients' health histories and environments to find out what factors might increase the risk of developing azole-resistant infections.
To participate, individuals must be over 18 years old, have a respiratory sample taken between 2020 and 2023 (or starting in 2024 for new samples), and live in the specified regions. Participants will need to give their consent to take part in the study and be part of a social security scheme. Those who are under guardianship or do not have a stable living situation cannot join the trial. By taking part, patients will help researchers learn more about Aspergillus infections and contribute to better understanding and treatment options for these challenging fungal infections.
