ClinConnect Summary
The HAPNeSS trial is studying how using a special type of hypnosis can help caregivers manage behavior problems in elderly patients with severe Alzheimer’s disease or similar disorders. The goal is to see if training caregivers in this non-anxiety-inducing method can improve their interactions with residents over 75 years old living in care facilities, known as EHPADs. This approach aims to create a more peaceful environment for both patients and caregivers.
To participate in the study, caregivers such as nurses, care assistants, and therapists must have over a year of experience in an EHPAD and be comfortable learning about hypnosis. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but once it begins, eligible caregivers can expect to learn about this new technique and share their thoughts on how it affects their work with patients. It’s important to note that only caregivers who speak French and are willing to learn about hypnosis will be included, while those working with patients under 75 or with less severe cognitive issues will not be part of this study.
