ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on improving how doctors diagnose cerebral palsy in infants who were born prematurely (before 29 weeks of pregnancy). The researchers want to make sure that all doctors across Canada are following the same guidelines for early diagnosis, as this can help catch the condition sooner and lead to better outcomes for the children. They will check if doctors are using these guidelines in their everyday work and will find ways to help them do so if they are not. This study aims to see if following these guidelines helps improve the health and development of the babies being monitored.
To participate in this study, infants must be born prematurely at less than 29 weeks and be admitted to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that is part of the Canadian Neonatal Network. Unfortunately, infants who pass away before their first clinic visit, have serious birth defects, or move out of Canada before their appointment cannot be included. Families who join the study can expect to help researchers understand how well the guidelines are being followed and see if this leads to better health for their children.
