ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how different intensities of resistance training (RT) affect heart health in women who are postmenopausal and have high blood pressure, also known as systemic arterial hypertension. The researchers want to find out if exercising with lighter weights (60% of their maximum strength) is as effective as using heavier weights (80% of their maximum strength) in lowering blood pressure, improving heart function, and affecting feelings during the workout. Participants will engage in two types of training sessions and will have their blood pressure, heart rate, and overall feelings measured before and after their workouts.

To be eligible for this study, women aged 50 to 65 who are postmenopausal and have a history of high blood pressure are invited to participate, especially if they haven't been exercising regularly. It's important to note that those with specific heart conditions, obesity, or certain medications may not qualify for the trial. Participants can expect to be part of a 10-week program where they will either train with lighter or heavier weights, and their heart health will be closely monitored throughout the trial. This study aims to provide valuable insights into the best exercise practices for improving heart health in this population.
