ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a program called the Participation Pathways and Resources for Engagement and Participation (PREP), which aims to help young people with Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophies (DBMD) take part in community activities that are important for their health and well-being. The main goal is to see how effective and practical the PREP program is for improving participation in activities that the participants choose for themselves. Young men aged 14 to 30 who have been diagnosed with DBMD may be eligible to participate, as long as they haven't already tried the PREP intervention before.
During the trial, participants will work closely with an occupational therapist on a leisure activity of their choice over eight sessions that last between 12 to 18 weeks. They will track their progress and satisfaction with this activity weekly using a simple tool called the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). The results of this study will help families, healthcare providers, and policymakers find better ways to support young people with DBMD in engaging with their communities, ultimately making life easier for them and their families.
