ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how diabetic peripheral neuropathy, a condition that affects nerves in people with diabetes, impacts balance control and muscle activity in adults over the age of 50. The researchers want to understand how well participants can maintain their balance and how quickly they can recover from losing their balance when standing still. This is important because good balance is key to preventing falls and injuries.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 50 years old and have Type II diabetes along with peripheral neuropathy, which means you experience nerve damage due to diabetes. Unfortunately, if you have certain conditions like foot ulcers, partial amputations, a history of stroke, or painful neuropathy, you won't be eligible. During the trial, participants will complete tasks like standing up from a seated position and responding to balance challenges. This research could help improve our understanding of balance issues in older adults with diabetes, leading to better care and support.
