ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring two different surgical methods for connecting the ends of the intestine after removing cancer from the sigmoid colon or upper rectum. Specifically, it compares the "end to end anastomosis" with a special stitching technique called omega suture to another method called "end to anterior rectal wall." The goal is to see which method leads to fewer complications like leakage, as well as to evaluate how the surgery affects bowel function, the time it takes to perform the surgery, and the amount of blood lost during the operation.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 18 years old and diagnosed with recto-sigmoidal or upper rectal cancer. Unfortunately, individuals with recurrent cancer, complicated cancers, or those who have had previous surgeries in that area are not eligible to participate. If you join the study, you can expect to receive close monitoring and support throughout the surgical process and recovery. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders, so if you or a loved one fits the criteria, you may want to consider this opportunity.
