ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how different ways of providing breathing support, called ventilation modes, can affect patients undergoing bariatric surgery, which is surgery for weight loss. The researchers want to find out if certain ventilation methods, particularly one called PRVC, can help lower the pressure in the brain and the level of carbon dioxide in the blood during and after surgery. They will also check if they can quickly measure brain pressure using a special technique that looks at the eye.

To participate in this trial, individuals need to be between 16 and 65 years old and scheduled for elective bariatric surgery, with a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher. Participants will be placed into one of three groups, each receiving a different ventilation method during surgery. They will have their breathing patterns and other important measurements monitored throughout the process. This study is currently recruiting participants, so if you or someone you know fits the criteria, it could be a valuable opportunity to contribute to important research in this area.
